About the company

This is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting energy trading company as a VP in Engineering. They were established in fossil fuels and reinvented themselves as a startup within the green energy space. Green energy services from suppliers are few and far between, and this company are creating flatforms that take the unpredictability out of renerable energy investment to encourage energy suppliers to invest more in the medium, thus making green energy services more accessible.

About the person:

As a VP in Engineering you will have diverse experience - a proven track record of solving problems and varied experience across different products and projects. You must be willing to be technical and confident with stakeholder management, translating requirements into features.

Technical stack for a VP in Engineering:

  • Solid software engineering background and expert knowledge in Python and SQL (especially FastAPI)
  • Microservice development
  • Redis
  • AWS (Fargate, Athena)
  • Docker
  • S3
  • RabbitMQ
  • SQL Server

Other essentials for a VP in Engineering:

  • Deep experience working on and leading and designing software architecture for large-scale data projects
  • Team leadership and management experience in formal engineering environments
  • Understanding about technical debt in data systems
  • Experience in designing and implementing large scale data projects

Desirable features:

  • Domain knowledge in the energy sector (not essential but preferred)
  • BS or MD degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or a related field

This is a really exciting opportunity to join a global energy and technology comapny as a VP in Engineering, and make a real difference whilst providing a best-in-class service to manage the inherent intermittency of renewable power generation across the short, medium and long term.

This position is on-site, but can allow flexibility to work remotely 1 or 2 days per week.
