About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team in Preston. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in analyzing new and emerging customer requirements, providing critical safety and avionics scoping, and conducting feasibility analyses for our key sub-systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirement Analysis: Evaluate customer requirements, coordinating reviews of Statements of Requirements (SOR) or System Requirements Documents (SRD). Identify customer needs and define the "Problem Space," documenting the findings in an Avionic System Scope and Feasibility Analysis Report (ASFAR).
  • Safety Evaluation: Lead initial safety assessments for design changes, identifying potential hazards and areas of concern. Document safety evaluations and assessments in the ASFAR.
  • Technical Assessment: Conduct technical assessments of customer business cases to determine the scope, impact, and possible solutions. Develop a single selected solution as the 'Avionic Design Recommendation' and perform a final feasibility study on it.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure all project plans, safety assessments, and technical evaluations are thoroughly documented and effectively communicated to stakeholders and the Avionics Joint Team (AJT).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Background: A degree in a STEM field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Systems Engineering: Extensive experience in systems engineering throughout the entire development lifecycle, ideally within aerospace or defense sectors.
  • Requirements Management: Strong ability to capture and manage requirements, with a clear understanding of their impact on platforms and equipment.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Documentation: Proven capability to write formal project documentation.
  • Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience in managing or leading a team.

About the Avionics Joint Team:

The Avionics Joint Team oversees the comprehensive system-level functional avionics design and partitioning across seven main sub-systems and over 100 components. This includes safety analysis, qualification, and certification of the integrated system. The Front-End Team provides technical support, aligning customer requirements and system constraints to create a unified design concept.
