This Automation Tester role is ideal for those skilled in advanced test automation and keen to work within the Home Office's mission-critical projects. As a vital part of a growing Agile team, the Automation Tester will define acceptance criteria, develop automated tests, and conduct exploratory testing across product delivery.

Responsibilities for the Automation Tester:

• Collaborate with product teams to outline and verify acceptance criteria for user stories.
• Design, develop, and implement reusable UI components and ensure alignment with product testing requirements.
• Conduct thorough exploratory testing and automated tests to confirm quality across all product features.
• Define, maintain, and update test cases and requirements within an Agile, test-first environment.
• Partner with software engineers to troubleshoot and optimize code for seamless functionality.
• Analyze and share test progress and quality metrics in a clear, actionable format.
• Engage in Agile planning and retrospective sessions to drive improvements in testing practices.

Essential Skills:

• Proven experience in Java, TDD, and strong communication abilities.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines for streamlined Automation Testing processes.
• Hands-on experience in API testing (Postman), containerized testing (Docker), and command-line scripting for either Windows or Linux OS.
• Familiarity with key frameworks and tools, including Cypress, GitLab, JUnit, SonarQube, Jenkins, Splunk, Gatling, Serenity, Cucumber, Selenium, Wiremock, and Hamcrest.

Preferred Skills:

• Working knowledge of DevOps and Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with AWS Cloudwatch, Jira, Confluence, and experience with PACT frameworks for consumer contract testing.
• Advanced experience with mocks, stubs, and automation strategies.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years' relevant testing experience, with a solid foundation in best practices, Agile workflows, and CI/CD integration.
