A respected digital consultancy is hiring a Senior Azure Data Engineer to join its growing Managed Services team. Known for supporting mission-critical services across government, health, and the private sector, this organisation builds and operates data platforms that are scalable, secure, and high-performing. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where modern engineering practices and user-first thinking are at the heart of delivery.
This role is ideal for experienced Data Engineers with a strong Azure background who enjoy variety, technical challenges, and building long-term value for clients.
The Role:
As a Senior Azure Data Engineer, you’ll work across multiple client environments—enhancing pipelines, resolving performance issues, and driving improvements in cloud data infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders, taking ownership of technical decisions while ensuring stability and scalability across platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimise data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, and Microsoft Fabric
- Support production environments, troubleshoot issues, and implement monitoring solutions
- Lead on CI/CD for data workflows and support infrastructure automation
- Work closely with clients to understand data needs and deliver solutions that add real value
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal best practice development
About You:
- Strong experience in data engineering within Azure ecosystems
- Hands-on expertise in Azure Data Factory, T-SQL, and SSIS
- Confident with CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps
- Comfortable supporting production systems and proactively managing performance and reliability
- Able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in Agile delivery environments with a consultancy or client-facing background preferred
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Bicep, Terraform, or ARM templates)
- Exposure to Power BI, Synapse Analytics, or Microsoft Fabric
- Scripting experience in Python for automation or transformation
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor or Log Analytics
- Experience with ITSM tools (e.g. HaloPSA, ServiceNow)
Benefits Include:
- 25 days holiday + UK public holidays
- 6% employer pension contributions (2% employee)
- Critical illness cover, life assurance, and death in service
- Private health, dental, or additional pension contributions via flexible benefits
- Electric vehicle and cycle-to-work schemes
- Wellbeing allowance and Perkbox discounts
Work Style:
Hybrid working model – typically up to 2 days on-site per week depending on client needs. Most delivery is remote-first, though some flexibility is required for key meetings and workshops.
