A respected digital consultancy is hiring a Lead Data Architect to join its growing Data Engineering practice. Known for delivering modern, human-centred services across public and private sectors, this organisation supports clients through meaningful transformation by combining data, design, and engineering.
This role is ideal for experienced architects who enjoy shaping cloud-native data platforms, working in multidisciplinary teams, and embedding data governance and architectural rigour across complex service ecosystems.
The Role:
As a Lead Data Architect, you’ll play a key role in designing scalable, secure, and accessible data platforms that enable insight-driven decision-making. You’ll work closely with engineering teams and client stakeholders to define architectures, support implementation, and ensure consistency across data models, pipelines, and access layers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define data architecture and modelling standards that support enterprise strategy and user needs
- Design cloud-based data solutions using platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Contribute to data governance standards and ensure compliance with privacy, security, and access control requirements
- Build and maintain key architectural artefacts such as data dictionaries, ER models, and lineage documentation
- Engage in Agile delivery teams—supporting discovery, evaluating source systems and APIs, and creating stories for implementation
- Collaborate with third parties to ensure interoperability and integration compatibility
- Champion best practices in warehousing techniques (e.g. Kimball), metadata management, and performance optimisation
- Support delivery through integration testing, reconciliation, and reporting visualisation (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
About You:
- Proven experience designing data architectures for large-scale platforms and diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong data modelling skills across OLTP and OLAP systems, with experience building datamarts and warehouses
- Proficiency with cloud-native tools (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Services, etc.)
- High-level SQL skills and experience with tools like SSMS, SSIS, or SSRS
- Strong understanding of data governance, RBAC, and information security practices
- Able to evaluate APIs and source systems for integrity, content, and suitability
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and client-facing consultancy environments
- Experience designing and implementing end-to-end data pipelines is highly desirable
Benefits Include:
- 25 days holiday + UK public holidays
- 6% employer pension contributions (2% employee)
- Critical illness cover, life assurance, and death in service
- Private health, dental, or additional pension contributions via flexible benefits
- Electric vehicle and cycle-to-work schemes
- Wellbeing allowance and Perkbox discounts
Work Style:
Hybrid working model – typically up to 2 days on-site per week depending on client needs. Remote-first delivery is common, though some flexibility is required for key workshops or planning sessions.
