Overview

We’re looking for a Principal Delivery Manager to lead high-impact digital transformation programmes across the UK public sector and healthcare. You’ll be responsible for driving delivery excellence across multiple complex engagements, shaping delivery strategy, and managing senior client relationships to achieve lasting outcomes.

As a senior leader in our Delivery capability, you’ll be accountable for the success of large-scale programmes, ensuring governance, profitability, and alignment with client goals. You’ll also play a critical role in account development, talent growth, and innovation across teams. Please note: This role requires a strong consulting background with extensive public sector and/or healthcare delivery experience.

Key Responsibilities

Programme & Delivery Leadership

  • Own successful delivery across large, multi-workstream transformation programmes.

  • Lead with a focus on long-term impact, value for end users, and strategic outcomes—not just budget, time and scope.

  • Ensure effective collaboration and alignment across all delivery teams.

Governance & Assurance

  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks to support delivery transparency and accountability.

  • Identify and mitigate risks, manage escalations, and maintain client trust and confidence.

  • Ensure compliance with delivery standards, policies and agreed SLAs.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Take full responsibility for commercial success, including cost control, revenue forecasting, and margin optimisation.

  • Support bid development, contract negotiations and commercial agreements with clients.

  • Balance client needs with commercial interests and team wellbeing.

Account Growth

  • Build strong relationships with Director and CxO-level stakeholders within client organisations.

  • Contribute to account strategy and planning to drive growth and expansion.

  • Shape proposals, pitch solutions, and identify new delivery opportunities within existing accounts.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a culture of innovation across delivery teams—embracing new tools, technologies and ways of working.

  • Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance delivery performance and client value.

  • Share insights, delivery patterns and lessons learned across the wider business.

People Leadership

  • Manage and mentor delivery leads and programme managers, creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture.

  • Act as a role model and coach, supporting the growth and development of senior delivery talent.

  • Take on wider responsibility within the Delivery capability and/or Healthcare business unit.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading large-scale digital transformation programmes in the public sector and/or healthcare, using Agile methodologies.

  • Consulting background with a track record of successful delivery in a client-facing environment.

  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple high-value programmes simultaneously.

  • Strong experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including Directors and C-level clients.

  • Line management and team development experience in a programme or portfolio leadership capacity.

  • Commercially savvy with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and profitability.

  • Deep understanding of Agile delivery, software development lifecycles, and governance frameworks.

  • Comfortable making informed decisions under pressure, with a balanced view of client, team, and commercial impact.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience delivering digital programmes for national healthcare organisations (e.g. NHS).

  • Proven success contributing to or leading public sector/healthcare bid responses.

  • Background in thought leadership (e.g. blogs, talks, community engagement).

  • Experience in developing new services or delivery models based on market needs.

  • Recognised programme management or Agile certifications (e.g. MSP, SAFe, Scrum).

 What’s On Offer

  • Base salary: £120k – £150k DOE

  • Performance-based bonus

  • Flexible UK-wide hybrid working

  • A leadership role driving digital delivery that impacts millions of lives

  • Opportunity to shape the future of delivery across public sector and healthcare programmes

If you’re a senior delivery leader with a strong consulting background and a passion for public sector or healthcare transformation, we’d love to hear from you.
