Anson McCade is partnered with a leading digital consultancy delivering complex cloud, data, and platform solutions for the UK public sector. We're hiring for a Principal Platform Architect to join their Platforms Capability, helping shape and lead high-impact digital programmes for government and defence clients.

This is a leadership position for someone who’s both deeply technical and strategically minded, with experience delivering and modernising complex cloud platforms at scale.

As a Principal Platform Architect, you will:

  • Lead cloud platform delivery for large-scale public sector programmes – ensuring technical excellence, security, and long-term maintainability

  • Own solution and architectural direction from discovery through to delivery, working with cross-functional agile teams

  • Define strategic technical roadmaps and platform blueprints that align with business goals and non-functional needs

  • Collaborate closely with C-level and senior stakeholders – clearly translating technical direction into business impact

  • Mentor and support other architects, engineers, and capability leads, helping grow technical maturity across the team

  • Contribute to capability strategy, thought leadership, and tech community engagement

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience delivering secure, scalable platforms in a public cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Strong background in IaaS, infrastructure design, and CI/CD tooling (Terraform, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)

  • A track record of making impactful technology decisions, leading execution and delivery

  • Ability to guide and influence technical teams and senior business stakeholders alike

  • Experience in consulting or client-facing delivery roles – ideally within UK Public Sector or Defence

  • An interest in contributing to tech strategy, capability development, and mentoring others

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience bringing challenged projects back on track or turning around delivery risks

  • Familiarity with pre-sales, service development or account growth

  • Participation in technology communities or contributions to thought leadership

  • Previous accountability for developing new digital products or services
