Senior Platform Engineer

Location: Manchester (3 days per week on-site, hybrid working)
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for SC clearance

Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 + bonus

We are seeking experienced Senior Platform Engineers to join a growing team delivering critical national security and government projects. This is an opportunity to work on high-impact solutions with complex data and systems, in a collaborative environment where innovation and technical excellence are valued.


The Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will:

  • Design, build and deliver production-ready and proof-of-concept systems.

  • Work collaboratively in agile teams, contributing to system architecture, development, and integration.

  • Use modern development practices including version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and static code analysis.

  • Solve complex technical challenges, balancing creativity with proven patterns and approaches.


Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (JavaScript, Java, .NET, Python).

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git, Mercurial, Perforce).

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, Bitbucket).

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and static analysis tools (e.g. SonarQube).

  • Agile team working (Scrum, Kanban, Lean).

Desirable (training can be provided):

  • Machine learning platforms (AWS, Azure ML, TensorFlow).

  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).

  • Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Database systems (relational, document, graph).

  • Configuration management and deployment tools (Ansible).
