Role Overview
The Associate Director (AD) is responsible for leading Deal Execution engagements at deal pace, delivering high-quality work alongside senior client stakeholders. Engagements may span the full transaction lifecycle, from early planning and blueprint design, through Day 1 readiness, to post-deal implementation and execution.
Key responsibilities include:

Overseeing development of deliverables, outputs, and updates for Partner/Director review.

Leading client interactions and updates throughout engagements.

Understanding business operations across all functions and their interdependencies within a transaction.

Project managing entire programmes or multiple workstreams.
-
Supporting engagement strategy, budgets, and delivery plans alongside Directors/Partners.

Leading wider client teams on engagements in line with agreed scope.
Leadership & Management
-
Acting as a senior leader on engagements, modelling best behaviours and driving delivery excellence.

Encouraging curiosity and innovation while ensuring outcomes are commercially focused and value-adding.

Contributing to business development activities including pitches, proposals, and market initiatives.

Identifying and helping to convert new opportunities on live engagements.
Stakeholder Interaction & Challenges

Providing credible advice on complex Deal Execution projects.

Acting as Engagement Manager and primary client contact where appropriate.

Challenging stakeholders to ensure team size and timelines are suitable for scope.

Managing internal and external stakeholders to minimise risk and safeguard reputation.

Leading delivery of high-quality outputs and providing day-to-day leadership for teams.

Applying and leveraging Deal Execution and Deal Advisory technologies to improve delivery efficiency.
Impact, Risk, Accountability & Governance

Applying commercial judgement to engagement pricing and profitability.

Managing risk appropriately, including client acceptance activities, risk registers, and compliance.

Taking responsibility for invoicing, WIP, and provisioning.

Coaching and overseeing team members on risk management activities.
Candidate Profile
Experience:
-
Extensive experience in a leading strategy house, professional services firm, public sector body, or strategy/development role in industry.

Strong understanding of value drivers within deals.

Proven track record of leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
-
Experience managing or supporting high-value business development initiatives with senior stakeholders.

Ability to build, commercialise, and sustain senior executive relationships.

Demonstrated curiosity, innovation, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, drive, and resilience.
Technical Skills:

Strong academic background.

Sales and business development experience.

Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.

Structured yet creative thinker.

Ability to credibly engage with C-level executives on key strategic issues.
